The Fannin County High School softball team has two members who will be continuing their softball careers at the collegiate level. Karly “Thunderstick” Thompson and Candace “Blitzkrieg” German both signed letters of intent to play for Morehead State and North Georgia College respectively.
The “Thunder and Lighting” combination helped the Lady Rebels make three trips to the state tournament, more than the total number of appearances before their arrival, and 76 wins in four years.
Thompson holds the school single season for home runs (9). She also accumulated 68 RBI’s with 76 runs scored. She only committed 23 total errors in four years for a fielding percentage of .985.
German had 399 career at bats and finished with a .401 career average. She also finished with 30 career doubles. Following a junior year that saw her achieve a 1.000 fielding percentage, German had only one error her senior year.
