Fannin County voted against the state-wide charter amendment referendum in last night’s election.
Fifty seven point eighty six percent voted against the amendment, while 42.14 percent voted for the measure. However, state-wide the referendum passed, with 58.54 voting for the amendment and 41.46 percent, against.
Ninth District Congressional Candidate Republican Doug Collins won overwhelmingly over Democratic opponent Jody Cooley, Collins receiving 77.30 percent of the vote and Cooley, 22.70.
In the post one commissioner race, Republican Candidate earl Johnson beat out Democrat William Mitchell for the spot.
Also, despite his national defeat, Republican Candidate Mitt Romney won soundly in Fannin County. Romney won 78.48 percent of the vote, Obama won 20.26, and Libertarian Candidate Gary Johnson won 1.27 percent of the vote.
