The 5th seeded Copper Basin Cougars took on the 6th seeded Lookout Valley Yellow Jackets Friday night, November 2, 2012. This game was a rematch of an earlier game in the season, which the Cougars took 42-27. However, the Yellow Jackets did not score as many points this time around, when the Cougars beat them 49-10 at home.
Neither offense could get much going in their first possessions, with both resulting in punts.

As the first quarter was winding to a close, Dylan Boggs gave his Cougar squad the lead with a 60 yard touchdown completion to Bryce Nicholson. Copper Basin went up 7-3 going into the second quarter.
On Lookout Valley’s first possession of the second quarter, they marched down the field looking to take the lead back form the Cougars. Denzell Brown had other plans. He was “Unstoppable” when he intercepted the ball in his end zone and took it back 100 yards for a Cougar touchdown.
On the Cougars next possession, Boggs hit Bryce Nicholson for a 47 yard touchdown pass, which put the Cougars up 21-3.
Another staunch defensive effort from the Cougars resulted in no points for the Yellow Jackets.
Dylan Boggs called his own number when he scrambled out of trouble to break off a long run. This resulted in a four yard touchdown pass to Stephen Spargo. The Cougars led at this point 28-3.
Lookout Valley’s next possession resulted in an intercepted pass by Spargo.
Denzell Brown broke off for a long run and was talked from behind when a Yellow Jacket defender punched the ball out of his hands. This resulted in a Jacket recovery.
Coming out of halftime, the Yellow Jackets decided to kick an onside kick to catch the Cougars off guard and they did just that. The Yellow Jackets did just that and drove down the field to cap off their drive with a touchdown run by their star running back Jamal Jones. Basin led 28-10.
Neither offense could get anything going for the rest of the quarter.
On Copper Basin’s first possession of the fourth quarter, the Cougars marched down the field to score again, with a 15 yard pass to Spargo, a three yard run by Justin Vasquez, and a 25 yard touchdown run by Brown.
Their second possession featured a long run by Denzell Brown, a long pass to Stephen Spargo, and capped off with a 12 yard touchdown run by Brown.
Lookout Valley forces Basin to punt, but a costly muff gave the ball back to the Cougars. A fumble that could have given the ball back to the Yellow Jackets was recovered by Quantavious Brown. The Cougars then put all of the seniors in the game and allowed them to walk off their home field together for one last time. This drive, and the game, were capped off on a one yard run by Caleb Deal to end the game with a 49-10 win by the Cougars.
