Daily Prayer: February 21, 2013
Luke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor, he has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Lord Jesus, You read this scripture from Isaiah in Your home synagogue in Nazareth and said, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
Because of You there is good news for the poor – that heaven takes note of our need and sees our circumstances.
Because of You a prisoner in his cell can be free in his spirit.
Because of You the blind can see eternal things.
Because of You all who are oppressed by the weight of daily living can have help with their burdens.
And because of You we can know divine favor, which tells us that we are not alone.
Help this person who thinks on these aspects of Your mission to us and grant this one the right to participate in Your fullest blessings.
Amen.
