Let the Games Begin: A Preview of a Crazy College Football Season

Opinion

Well fans, this is it: the days of the college football offseason are now down to less than a month, which means it will be no time before our favorite players hit the field. With the season quickly approaching, I decided to do what any college football fanatic would do and make my predictions for the 2012-2013 season. While some fans may want to shield their eyes (I’m talking to you, Rebel/Black Bear Nation), most should be left with a pretty good feeling on what’s to come; that is, if it goes by my script.
We will first start off with a look at all 124 FBS schools’ records for the season.

Now let’s take a look at the bowl games. It is important to remember that three schools—Ohio State, North Carolina, and Penn State—will have winning records but are ineligible to appear in a bowl this season. Also important is the fact that some of the bowl tie-ins listed involved a conference without enough bowl eligible teams, so I just plucked the most impressive team left out and plugged them in to fill the gap; such moves are indicated with an asterisk.

Five schools with non-losing records will not go bowling according to my predictions: Bowling Green, San Jose State, Utah State, Western Kentucky, and Wyoming.

With the bowl games now out of the way, let’s take a look at the head coaching changes that I predict will occur.
