Eulala Marie Anderson Voyles passed away peacefully, with her family by her side at her residence in Murphy on January 22nd, 2011 at the age of 93 years. Eulala was born January 23, 1917 on Dickey Road in Cherokee County, N.C., the third child of the late Will and Grovie Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Monroe Voyles, two sisters, Beaulah Mae Beavers, and Ruby Pauline Humphrey, and two brothers, John Orville Anderson and Claude Mitchell Anderson.Eulala was a member at the Ranger Baptist Church, she was a homemaker for 50 yrs and then went to work in her later years for Murphy Textiles and Peachtree Products. She and Thomas were married in April of 1936 at Grandma Silvey’s house when her father had said “I lost my main stay”.

She is survived by three children, Wilma Jean and husband Kenneth Jones of Murphy, Mary Jo and husband Glen Morrow of Farner, TN and Lewis William and Wife Shirley Voyles of Murphy; two sisters, Maude Jane Jones and Hazel Irene Hawkins both of Akron, OH; one brother, Hubert Lee Anderson of Murphy; five grandchildren, Sonya Colleen Morrow Daves, Jeffery Lynn Morrow, Lewis W. Voyles, Jr., Holly Marie Jones Wood, and Destiny Faith Voyles Cortis; 15 great-grandchildren, Weston Matthew Daves, Chason Corey Daves, Daylen Mackenzie Morrow, Candace Leanne Daves, Devin Michael Morrow, Logan Prescott Daves, Jacob Warren Morrow, Jenna Renee Morrow, Hunter Ellington Wood, Peyton Noelle Wood, Chandler Kenneth Wood, Kinsley Diane Cortis, Lillian Marie Voyles, Mason Faith Cortis, and Emily June Voyles; two great-great-grandchildren, Andrea Jamison Lynn Daves, and Presley Bella Daves; 20 nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews. Also her best friend of 50 years, Gladys Adams, her neighbors for over 45 years, Lyle and Grace Carringer, her church friends for over 20 years, Hortense and George Michelsen, her most faithful visitors from church, David Light and Geraldine Garland, her caregiver, Nellie Sue Graham and lastly, her favorite doctor for many years, Dr. David Gowder.

Services for Mrs. Voyles will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 25, 2011 with visitation an hour prior to the service at the Cochran Funeral Home with Reverend L.B. Adams officiating. Music will be provided by Lewis Jr. and Katie Voyles. Interment will follow immediately after at the Friendship Baptist Church #2 cemetery in Murphy. Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Daves, Weston Daves, Chason Daves, Tom Anderson, Randall Harris and Hunter Wood. Honorary pallbearers will be Lyle Carringer, George Michelsen, David Light, Tony Graham, Jason Gainey and Richard Morrow.
