Vikings Run Rule Rebels

Team FYN Sports

Last Monday, the Lady Rebels softball team traveled to East Hall to take on the Lady Vikings. Fannin just had a big region win against GAC the week before and looked to continue the winning streak.

The Lady Rebels knew it would be a tough matchup from the beginning and let it get in their heads. They knew that they were going up against the best pitcher in the region and let it affect their hitting. East Hall’s pitcher struck out nine batters and allowed only three hits over six innings.

Fannin was able to to put up a fight in the first inning. When East Hall kept them from scoring, the Rebels returned the favor on defense. In the bottom of the inning, Fannin had a quick three outs. With a runner on first base, Macy Galloway caught a line drive at shortstop and immediately threw the ball back to first to get the first two outs for Fannin. The Rebels closed out the inning tied 0-0 with the Vikings.

Fannin started to slip up on defense which allowed East Hall to start scoring. Errors on defense started to take a toll on the Rebels. Fannin made seven errors over six innings opposed to East Hall’s zero. The Vikings continued to extend their lead while the Rebels had trouble doing the same.

Senior, Amelia Sneed, pitched six innings for Fannin where she struck out three batters and allowed six hits. Macy Galloway, Kyla Seabolt, and Maleah Stepp each had one hit for the night. Seabolt had an RBI, putting Fannin’s only run on the board in the fourth inning.

The Lady Vikings run ruled the Rebels in the sixth inning with a score of 9-1. Fannin’s loss put their overall record at 3-4 and their region record at 1-1.
