The Fannin County Young Farmer Association held a sheep and goat workshop on September 26 in the FCHS gym conference room. The program began at 6pm with a meal sponsored by Ocoee Animal Hospital and the Fannin County Young Farmer Association. Kenny Queen Young farmer President brought greetings on behalf of the group. Ms. Pamela Barry owner of Hidden Creek Farm in Blairsville presented a program on the production of dairy goats as well as goat milk and cheese production. Her goat dairy is a USDA certified grade A dairy. Dr. Mike Zager DVM presented a program on the basic care of goats and sheep including health, nutrition, parasite control, and general goat husbandry. Mrs. McKenzie Owenby -Fannin County 4-H agent and Ms. Rhonda Mathews- FCSS Young Farmer Advisor and FCHS Agriculture Education Teacher informed the attendees on goat and sheep livestock exhibition opportunities available in 4-H and FFA.
