Phillip Robin Sheffer, age 57, of Copperhill, TN was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 2, 2017. He was born on June 25, 1960 in Marietta, GA to James and Shirley Sheffer. Of the Christian faith, Phil studied with The Shepherds Chapel for over 20 years. He was a firefighter-paramedic having retired from Cherokee County, GA after 24 years of service. Phil also served part-time with Fannin County EMS and after retirement held remote training sessions on public safety software across the U.S. for fire and EMS organizations while working for EF Recovery in Gig Harbor, Washington. Phil was an avid outdoorsman serving as the Scoutmaster for the Ducktown Boy Scout Troop 14 since 2008.

Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Jodie Sheffer and son, Reece Sheffer of Copperhill, TN; mother and father, Jim and Shirley Sheffer of Ducktown, TN; sisters and brothers-in-law, Chris and Gary Wingo of Epworth, GA and Suzanne and Ed Lowe of Chattanooga, TN; brother-in-law, Kenny (Marilyn) Beach of Lawrenceville, GA; nieces, Amanda (Chris) Bogue of Calhoun, GA, Sarah Lowe of Chattanooga, TN, Robyn Lowe of Savannah, GA, Haley Beach and Sydney Beach of Lawrenceville, GA; a great nephew, Ethan Champion of Calhoun, GA; and a host of other friends and family members.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 5:00 pm from the Chapel of Akins Funeral Home of Blue Ridge with Rev. Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Honors will be provided by the Cherokee County EMS/Fire Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be David Wells, Tim Milburn, Anthony Holloway, Jim Taylor, Jeff Walker, and Ricky Wilcox. Honorary pallbearers will include, Ricky Allen, Zack Johnson, Braden Hedrick, Jonothon Payne, Ethan Robinson, and Tyler White. Friends may visit the family on Friday afternoon from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorial contributions in Phil’s honor be sent to the Boy Scouts of America (www.scouting.org) or The Shepherds Chapel (P.O. Box 416 Gravette, AR 72736).
