Rebel's Corner

Teams from Fannin County High School and Fannin County Middle School participated in a Diploma Planning Institute presented by Pioneer Regional Educational Service Area (RESA) and the National Dropout Prevention Center at Clemson University. Teams of three people from the middle and high schools attended a two day workshop at Lanier Career Academy in Gainsville, Georgia, on February 29th and March 1st.

Tami Summers, school counselor, Cherie Kephart, graduation coach, and Tara Cantrell, school social worker, made up the team representing Fannin Middle School. Tammy Roberts, school counselor, Jill Key, graduation coach, and Heather Collis, academic coach, completed the team from the high school. Teams were guided through the development of a realistic plan to improve student success, and therefore, increase the high school graduation rate. Staff from the National Dropout Prevention Center and Pioneer RESA facilitated the planning sessions by providing resources and guided discussions to allow each school to design an individualized graduation improvement plan.
