Rebels Win Big in Tournament Opener

The Fannin Rebels, host of the 2015 Tip-Off Tournament, played the Copper Basin Cougars in day one of the three day tournament. The Rebels came out strong in the first quarter, outscoring the Cougars, 24-6. The Rebels kept the same momentum throughout the remainder of the game, winning, 64-37.

The first quarter was all Rebels, shooting 6-3PT (18) on 9-FG(24) attempts to quickly grab a 24-6 lead. Logan Holt and Clay Ware combined for 12 first quarter points followed closely by Adam Ingram with five points. The Rebels were able to contain Cougar, Tanner Wilcox, who was there lead scorer last year.

The second quarter was another onslaught of the Rebels aggressive play style, but the Cougars were able to get somewhat of a game going defensively. Outscoring Fannin, 17-6, the Cougars closed the gap. Wilcox, still struggled to find the net, but managed to score five points on several attempts. Tyler Limburg who also is a top scorer on the Cougars team managed to get somewhat of a game going scoring four. At the end of the first half of play, Fannin led, 30-17.

The third and fourth quarters were all Rebels, scoring 34 points, 18 points by way of 3-PT shots. Again, Clay Ware, Logan Holt and Lucas Walden shot high percentages of 3-pointers, connecting on six between them. The Cougars, however, were able to find some rhythm in the fourth. Cougars scoring leader, Tanner Wilcox, started to find the net scoring 12 points, but without help from the rest of his teammates, Wilcox efforts went unnoticed. Fannin went on to win, 64-37 to take the first win of the 3-day tournament.
