FCHS Students Tour CNN and GPB in Atlanta

Rebel's Corner

The Audio Video Technology and Film class from Fannin County High School recently toured CNN and GPB studios in Atlanta, GA. According the Governor’s office, the Video Industry in Georgia generated an economic impact of over $5 billion dollars in Fiscal Year 2014. The impact is projected to continue to grow and generate more and more jobs for skilled Georgians.

The Audio Video class allows students to write, film, and edit videos ranging from Public Service Announcments to Music Videos to broadcasting live events at www.fanninrebeltv.com. The students are also actively engaged in operating Rebel Radio 92.7 WXFC FM.

The CNN and GPB tours allow students to see state of the art equipment and technology being used to produce live news programs and videos around the clock. The students realize that the skills they are learning in high school are the same skills being used at the highest levels of video production. The equipment costs more, but the basic idea of telling a story through the use of video is the same. At GPB, the management team also sat down in a panel format and explained their individual jobs and career paths to the students. Students were able to interact with them and ask questions about the video industry in Georgia and possible career paths.
