TeamFYNSports 7-AAA Game of the Week

fannin-county-gaeast hallThis week’s Game of the Week goes to the Fannin Rebels at East Hall Vikings (3-1,4-4). The Rebels are tied for fourth with Banks, but Banks owns the tie breaker from an earlier loss. East Hall is sitting in second place behind Dawson County. East Hall is clearly in second with their only loss coming from Dawson, but if Fannin can mange to pull out the win this Friday, it will change everything in the region. East Hall still has to play Banks so things are still pretty tight in the region. At this point whomever makes the least amount of mistakes will finish either second or sixth in the region. There is a lot riding on this game for East Hall, but even more for the Rebels.

The Fannin Rebels (2-2,4-4) are having a tremendous season even despite their record. The only clear loss this season was at Banks County and the rest have been by fewer than a touchdown, 36 points total to be exact, 24 of which was at Banks. Clearly the Rebels are playing a much more competitive game this year and only 12 points separate them from a 7-1 record and being 3-1 in the region. But in high school football that 12 points could be 100 and your still sitting in fifth place behind some very good teams, two of which are your final games. Despite injuries that have plagued Fannin’s defensive secondary, they have managed to find ways to win. Freshman and sophomores have stepped up and took roles that their senior counterparts held and have made them proud. Make no excuse about it, if East Hall does not come to play Friday, we will see a very different leader-board come Saturday in 7-AAA. East Hall is favorited by 9.

banks-county-gawest-hall-gaBanks County (2-2,5-3) travels to West Hall (1-3,3-5) for regional play. Both teams are vying for a top four position in a very tough and constant changing 7-AAA. But at this point with just two games left anything can or could happen. The entire region is up for grabs, except first place, unless Dawson somehow losses at Lumpkin this week. Both Franklin and Banks have a chance at the top four with Fannin looming closely behind, depending on Fridays outcome. Banks is the favorited team by a small margin, 2 points.

West Hall has struggled throughout this season after a hugely successful season last year. Coming off a double overtime win at Fannin, look for West Hall to play hardball against Banks.

Banks has been an up-an-down team this year. Big wins and even bigger losses, Banks comes off a loss at Dawson last week 45-0. Banks will be looking to improve this week against a West Hall team that is still looking for its identity.

lumpkin-county-gadawson-gaThis week the Lumpkin County Indians (0-4,2-6) will travel a short distance to neighboring Dawson County Tigers (4-1,5-3). The Tigers season is at its end and can lock down the Region 7-AAA Championship with a win. Now if the Tigers somehow fall to last place Indians, things will change for the number one spot depending on the outcome of the other games. East Hall, Banks, Franklin and Fannin all are still in this thing.

The Indians are not the same team as last years. With no true identity, look for Dawson to win, but if they find themselves, the Tigers could have a very different outcome. Dawson is favorited by 15.

franklin-county-gaJohnson logoThe Franklin Lions have a non-region match-up with the Johnson Knights (Gainesville). Franklin is having a much better season than last years team and with a 3-2,4-4 record look for them to push right on into post-season play. If things dont change this week. Johnson has been playing a non-region schedule this year and is not a factor, but could change momentum for the Lions if they take the win. Franklin is favorited by 19.
