Daily Prayer: 07/04Proverbs 6:6-11 “Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways and be wise. Without having any chief, officer or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest. How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man.”
Our Father, you have created us to be productive and have decreed that we should earn our living by the sweat of our brows. Even the natural world teaches us to be resourceful about our daily needs. The tiny ants are a model for us humans. They prepare for winter by laying up food in summer and work tirelessly without having a taskmaster over them.

Help us to heed this lesson from nature so that poverty will not be knocking at our doors. We are concerned with those who want to work and cannot find a job. They are not lazy and earnestly desire to be in the work force again. Cause the economic tide of our country to turn again so that families will be saved from losing all they have worked for over the years. Grant that the harvest of plenty will come again. In Jesus name,

Amen.
