Shopping Carts, Crowds, Community Gather for Grand Opening

Walmart opened its doors to Blue Ridge on Wednesday and was a site to see for all in attendance.
Crowds gathered around to celebrate the long time coming event. Special guests were gathered around giving their good lucks to the store.

Blue Ridge Mayor Donna Whitener told how grateful she was to the over 177 jobs the new store has brought to the community.

Fannin County High School Band and Chorus was on hand giving performances to the hundreds that gathered awaiting the doors to open.

“It is a great day Fannin County,”

said Commissioner Chair Bill Simonds.

Connie Lambert, Blue Ridge Walmart Manager, spoke to the crowd giving her thanks for all in attendance.

Lambert would then proceed to donate monies to local non profits. Walmart donated over $3,000 dollars to North Georgia Crisis Center, Copper Basin Crisis Center, Feed Fannin and Snack in a Backpack.

Guest Speaker, Speaker of the House David Ralston was on hand to give his congratulations to the store.

“178 new jobs isn’t that something? This will be a huge impact to the community. The store will be a great asset.”
