Albert Philip Vigue, (Al Pop) to many, age 95 of Blue Ridge, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Erlanger Medical Center.Mr. Vigue was born July 18, 1918 in Goldsboro, NC to the late Joseph Philip Vigue and the late Annie Barfield Vigue. He was a “Dapper Dan” and a gentle soul who would regale all that would listen with stories about his high school track team, his tenure as high school class president, his work as manager of a clothing store, his service in World War II, (he is a veteran) and his 32 years with Overnight Transport-now known as UPS-Overnight.

He lived in Charlotte, NC until nine years ago when his wife Peggy died and he came to live near his son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Phyllis Vigue in Blue Ridge Village. He enjoyed riding his three-wheel bike with hi beloved dog “Smoochie” in the basket. He enjoyed playing cards on Mondays and Fridays, especially when he won. He loved watching the birds enjoy the feed he had just loaded into the bird feeders. He loved kibitzing with everyone about gold and the golf channel was his favorite TV show. He was always dressed in polo shirts and khaki’s and took pride in dressing up which came from his years managing a clothing store in Raleigh, NC. He was the original “Dapper Dan”.

He was a high-level executive for 32 years with Overnight Transport and he managed several different locations including Atlanta, Augusta, Charlotte, Richmond and many other terminal locations. After he retired from the Charlotte terminal, he played golf three or four times a week. He also was accomplished in woodworking.

He is survived by his son, Ron Vigue and his daughter-in-law Phyllis. He has four grandchildren, Rusty (Stacy) Vigue, Jennifer (Tim) Summers, Laurie (Brad) Shank and Lisa (Sam) Hill. He also has seven great-grandchildren, Tate Summers, Rylee Summers, Ryan Vigue, Emily Vigue, Hayley Hill, Sam Shank and Sayler Shank.

There will not be a service in Blue Ridge for Al Pop. He will be transported by Henry-Cochran Funeral Home to Charlotte, NC, where he will be buried next to his beloved wife, Peggy and the ashes of “Smoochie” will be buried with him. He will be missed by all who knew him but especially by his son and daughter-in-law.
