Rebels Wrestling Rumbles at Ridge: Goes to Gilmer

The Fannin County High School Rebels wrestling team recently hosted “The Rumble at the Ridge” Duals tournament before traveling south to Gilmer High School take part in Quad with Sonoraville, White County, and the hosting Bobcats.The Rebels rose over Berkmart in the “Rumble” 42-39, Fannin’s lone win in the tournament. Trent Rhodes, Ben Bruce, Tyler Collis, Wesley Limb, and Devin Green all recorded wins, with Limb getting the leg up with the lone Rebels pin.

Fannin fell to Dawson (69-12), Gilmer (52-27), Murphy (72-6), and Riverside (48-36) at the Rumble. Bruce and Parker Brown were the two Rebel wrestlers to record wins in the Dawson Dual.

Against Gilmer, Fannin picked up three wins from: Uriah Giet, Parker, Brown, and Collis. Both Brown and Parker recorded pins. Blake Carroll recorded the lone win for the Rebels versus Murphy.

The Riverside Dual saw four Rebels record wins, Giet, Brown, Caleb Chancey and Mason McClure.

At Gilmer Fannin first faced the hosting Bobcats, getting blanked in the process, 78-0. The matchup saw, Fannin head coach, Josh Snider, face his Alma Mater, and his own father, Sam, while his brother, David, was the referee of the match.

The Rebels next saw the Sonoraville Phoenix, with Fannin falling 53-12, followed by a 54-30 loss to White County that saw several Rebels record pins: Bruce, Limb, Carroll, Adrien Mendoza, and Matthew Seabolt.

Fannin will next travel to Union County High School to take part in the “Friday Night Fight Duals” Tournament.
