The North Georgia Honor Guard presented the colors and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mason Bundy. Similar to the Fannin County High School program, East Fannin students performed a series of songs to express their appreciation to the Veterans.

Songs performed by second and third graders included the Star Spangled Banner and Thankful for the U.S.A. Summer Rogers read a poem while the kindergarten and first grade students took the stage. They performed I Love My Country and You’re a Grand Ole’ Flag.

Col. George D. Pletcher spoke to the audience regarding the importance of Veterans and said that a Veteran is an individual that wrote a blank check made payable to the United States of America in an amount up to and including their life.

After Pletcher’s address, Fannin County High School band members, Amanda Foster and Jonathan Jones played Taps. Following Taps, fourth and fifth grade students performed American Every Day and We Honor Those Who Served.

The North Georgia Honor Guard retired the colors and the crowd was dismissed after Finch invited the honored guests to join the staff and students for a brief reception.

Once again, FYN would like to thank all of those past and present service members for their kind service to our country.
