The Tigers Tame the Rebels: 45-14

The Fannin High School Rebels football team took the field on the road, trying to upset the Dawson County Tigers, with the intentions of thwarting the Tigers’ playoff chances; however, the Tigers’ took the win, 45-14. Early penalties were a major problem for the Rebels. On the first set of downs of the game, Fannin would push its own self back setting up a third and twenty.

Trevor Stone’s pass attempt got snagged out of the air by a Tiger player giving Dawson a first and 10 on the Rebel 20.

Hunter Rice tried to slow the Tigers’ quick offense by knocking down a pass attempt to the end zone. With the pass not working, Dawson took over the game on the run.

It took the running back three quick tries before he got on the scoreboard with a three yard run. The early score came with 10:37 in the first.

Down by seven, Fannin tried to get the run game working. Most of the load was on the shoulders of Peyton Satterfield pushing the ball up the field, he finished the game with 14 carries for 103 yards and one touchdown.

Fannin pushed the ball to the Tiger 34 yard line where the Rebels faced a fourth down situation. Stone’s pass to Noah O’Neal was broken up causing a turnover on downs.

Fannin’s defense came up with a three and out. Hunter Rice returned the Tiger kick deep into Dawson territory giving the Rebels first and 10 on the Dawson 22.

After a failed Fannin fourth down conversion, Dawson got the ball down to the Rebel one yard line before punching the ball in. This put the score at 14-0 with 10:11 left in the second quarter.

The next play resulted in a huge 67 yard TD run by Satterfield to put the Rebels on the board 14-7.

Holding the Tigers, the Rebels get the ball with just under seven minutes to go in the half. After failed pass attempts by Stone, the Rebels punted the ball back to Dawson.

This set up a Tiger touchdown drive, putting the score at 21-7 with 4:55 left in the first half. Fannin failed to convert punting the ball back to the Tigers once more.

Dawson came up with a huge 46 yard touchdown pass with 28 seconds left in the half. On the kickoff Fannin would fumble the ball with the Tigers recovering. The Tigers tacked on three more points, via field goal, to take a 31-7 lead into the half.

Dawson came out of the break looking for more. The Tigers raced down the field quickly scoring another touch down. This made the score 38-7 early in the third quarter.

Dawson put up seven more point before the Rebels found the end zone. With the score 45-7, Stone would find Connor Jones for a 25 yard touchdown grab.

Fannin looks to close out the season with the last game of the year Friday, November 8th.
