Fannin Schools On Lockdown

Community, Featured Stories

The Fannin County School System placed all of its five schools and continue to be on lockdown until further notice. After receiving a call saying that schools were on lockdown due to criminal suspects being seen in the area, Fannin County Schools Superintendent Mark Henson made the decision to place all schools on a lockdown until they felt students were safe.

FYN spoke with Henson and he told us

“We were alerted by the Fannin County Sheriff’s Department that three wanted suspects were seen near the old June Walker building and that put them in close proximity of our schools that we felt a lockdown was necessary”.

Henson continued to say that the lockdown would continue until he heard from School Resource Officers that the students were not at risk of being harmed.

FYN also spoke with Major Bosen with the Fannin County Sheriff’s Department inquiring about the incident. He told us that there were three suspects that are wanted by the Fannin County Sheriff’s Department and they were seen in the Blue Ridge area. The suspects were involved in a vehicle chase fleeing law enforcement and abandoned their vehicle. One suspect has been apprehended and the other two are not believed to be in the area any longer.

Bosen would not comment on the charges the suspects were facing.

FYN will continue to bring you the latest in the development of this story.
