The streets of Blue Ridge were filled with musicians, tents and tons of people seeking great food this Labor Day holiday.The Good Samaritans of Fannin County hosted their 33rd annual Labor Day BBQ and bluegrass music festival on Monday, September 2, 2013. Locals and tourists gathered in downtown Blue Ridge for live gospel and bluegrass music from 11:30 am until 6:30 pm. Everyone was invited to stay and attend a community worship service taking place at 6:00 pm followed by an old fashioned ice cream social.

Musicians on site included the Hogsed Brothers from Hiawassee, GA, River Park Bluegrass from McCaysville, GA, Nelson Thomas from Blairsville, GA, Harmonious Hubbub from Tennessee, One Goal from Morganton, GA and the Kaylor Family from Morganton, GA.

The funds raised at the Labor Day BBQ are to benefit the Good Samaritans of Fannin County which is an open association of area churches that join hands across denominational lines to raise benevolent funds to minister to their Fannin County Neighbors in need.

Sponsoring churches included Blue Ridge United Methodist Church, Cherry Log Christian Church, Crossover Community Church, Faith Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge, Morganton Baptist Church, The Ridge Community Church, Shepard of the Hills Lutheran Church, St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Temple Baptist Church and Tri-State Christian Center.

Next Labor Day holiday, be sure to venture downtown for some great food and fellowship to allow the Good Samaritans of Fannin County the ability to help others in his name, as their slogan says.
