Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces memorial services for Mrs. Marcella Estella Humphries Fisher, age 92, who passed away peacefully at her home on April 26, 2013, after an extended illness.

Marcy, as most people knew her, was born in Palmyra, Illinois, on November 14, 1920, to Ray R. Humphries and Ollie Swain Humphries. She was preceded in death by seven siblings; her parents; and her husband, Clyde D. Fisher (Don).

Marcy grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. She worked as a secretary at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, where she met Don Fisher. They married in 1953 and moved to Blairsville in 1958, after the birth of their first daughter Donna. They later had three other children Diane, Laurence, and Clara.

She was raised as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was baptized in symbol of her dedication to Jehovah on September 22, 1942, and remained faithful to her dedication to the end of her life.

Marcy was a devoted wife, mother, and friend to many. She was especially known for her mild manner and her compassion for others and her selflessness. She was a true Southern lady in every sense of the term.

She is survived by her four children: Donna Borman (husband Micheal); Diane Hay (husband Jeff), Laurence Fisher (wife Stacy), and Clara Fisher; 5 grandchildren: Michele, Nathan, Alisha, Jared and Amelia; 2 great-grandchildren, Alyana and Jeren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services are scheduled for Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, on Paradise Road, in Blairsville, Georgia, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Springfield, Tennessee.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville. You may send condolences to the family and sign the guest registry on our website, www.cochranfuneralhomes.com.
