Fannin played Dawson Friday evening, tipping off at 7 o’clock. The girls played first and got off to a hot start going up early in the first quarter. Midway through the first, Dawson took the lead and never gave it back to the Rebels. At the end of the first, the Lady Tigers led the Lady Rebels 18-11. The onslaught continued into the second quarter, and by halftime Dawson led by 15. The Lady Rebels only scored 2 points during the second quarter; the score was 28-13. More of the same happened in the third and fourth quarters. Mallory Arp and Amanda Kinser ended up fouling out in the fourth quarter. Although Arp didn’t score any points, her tenacious defense was a bright spot for the Lady Rebels. Kinser ended up scoring four points before she left the game and was also a defensive stalwart for Fannin. Leading the way for Fannin in points scored were, point guard, Ashley Ellison and, forward, Hope Cochran with 10 and 9 points respectively. The end result was a 62-30 win for Dawson County.

When the boys team tipped off it looked as if it would become a defensive minded game, but again halfway through the first quarter Dawson took a lead and never looked back. At the half it was all Tigers leading by a whopping 34-4, with Will Patterson scoring all 4 of Fannin’s points.

When Dawson banged out a couple of dunks, you could tell by the look of the Fannin side of the court that it was going to be a long game. Brandon Arp scored the Rebels only 3 pointer of the game during the third quarter, but Dawson was just too much to handle and kept on scoring. During the waning seconds of the fourth quarter Nolan Hicks scored on a breakaway uncontested layup to show that he played his all whenever he got into the game even in a losing effort. The final score was in favor of the Dawson Tigers, 55-17.
