William Edward Smith, age 85, of the Life Care Center of Copper Basin passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011. William was a native of the Copper Basin area and was a son of the late William and Ethel Dilbeck Smith. He was retired from the Tennessee Chemical Company where he worked as a Supply House Clerk. He was an avid Tennessee Vol Fan and a member of the Mine City Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by siblings: Willa Dean Smith Burger, Magdalene Smith Bigham and Charles Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Sybil Lawrence Smith and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 26th at 6:00 P.M. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Timmy Joe Hemming officiating. Pallbearers include Don Dilbeck, Randy Adcock, Rick Cochran, Gerald Hughes, Jimmy Hemming and Danny Dilbeck. Honorary pallbearers include Doug Dilbeck, C.H. Loudermilk, Jackie Russell, Gerald Hughes, Sr., Terry Abernathy, Bill Davis, Randy Yates and Mark Stone. Interment will follow in the Zion Hill cemetery.
