Katherine Marie Haren Hunt passed away very peacefully March 7, 2011 in Valdosta, Georgia.
Katherine was born February 11, 1919 in Richmond, VA. She was educated in Epworth, GA where she lived most of her life in her beloved mountains. She graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College where she played college basketball. During her life, she was a school teacher in a one room school house, a seamstress, and the Director of the Fannin County Senior Center as well as a State Ombudsman. She enjoyed Lady Vols basketball, quilting, and the Atlanta Braves. However, nothing was more precious to her than the Epworth United Methodist Church, where she served her Lord tirelessly. She held many church board positions as well as president of the United Methodist Women. She was devoted to the Nursing Home ministry, and the Methodist Children’ s Home Outreach.
She loved and was loved by her family.

Survivors include, son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Mary Lynn Hunt of Valdosta, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Elfreida and Lee Wiley of Gallatin, TN. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Craig Hunt and Joel Hunt of Valdosta, GA; Matthew Hunt of Washington, D.C.; Eric Hunt of Juliette, GA; Emrey Wiley and Nora Wiley of Gallatin, TN and eleven great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Joyce Haren of Fayetteville, GA and a sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and James Phillips of Fayetteville, GA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Charlie Tilman Hunt; her parents, John and Nora (Stepp) Haren; brothers, Robert Haren, Charles (Ikey) Haren, Max Haren, Ralph Haren, Earl Haren, and a sister, Elizabeth Haren Marshall.

Visitation will be at the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home, Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 6-8 P.M.

Funeral Services will be Friday, March 11, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Epworth, GA. Interment will be at the Barnes Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
